Workington Town big winners in IMG gradings

Workington Town have been the big winners in the latest IMG gradings – improving their figure impressively.

They are now the top-rated C grade club in the Rugby League and are higher-rated than several clubs from the Championship.

Interim chairman Graeme Peers gives his thoughts here but expresses his pleasure at the improved score.

It was achieved though hard work in a number of specific areas and says there is a lot more to be done.

The gradings were decided following a thorough analysis of all clubs across Super League, the Championship and League 1 through five categories –  performance, fandom, finances, stadium and community.

Whitehaven, who were relegated from the Championship, have not been scored as their details were received late, as were those of current Championship side Batley Bulldogs.

Barrow were also happy with their grading which ranked them fifth in the list of Championship clubs.

Chairman Steve Neale also told Cumbria Crack his thoughts on the latest IMG findings.

He was particularly pleased with Barrow’s standings in Championship rankings and the continued good work the club continues to do in the local community.

The 36th club Goole Vikings have not been included as they join League One for the first time next season.
