Carlisle City were back in winning form after a poor show in midweek as they beat Seaham Red Star 5-0 at Gillford Park.
Manager Dan Kirkup had introduced two new signings in goalkeeper Jonny Jamieson and young forward Ben McCarron.
Both contributed to a much better team performance with the side looking strong, capable and eventually effective.
The visitors weren’t helped by a sixth minute red card for defender Cameron McHarg and a minute later Josh Simpson put City ahead with a superbly struck free-kick.
But Red Star were resilient and made it hard for City top add to their total, getting through to half-time without any further disasters.
But City were patient and gradually wore down their rivals, scoring four more goals in the last half an hour.
Jordan Irving netted on the hour; new boy McCarron got his debut goal after 64 minutes and Keighran Kerr added a brace in the 73rd and 83rd minutes.
The trick now for City will be to travel for their tough upcoming away games with an equally strong squad.
They travel to Newcastle Blue Star on Tuesday and visit North Shields on Friday night.
