Carlisle United’s miserable run continued in League Two when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Cheltenham Town.
They are now four points adrift in the drop zone with only Morecambe below them in the table.
The Blues were awful in the first half in which Cheltenham could have turned round three goals clear.
But all the visitors had to show for it was one goal from Ethon Archer thanks to a mistake from home keeper Harry Lewis as he couldn’t hold onto his shot after 17 minutes.
Sam Stubbs had a great chance to double the lead after another Lewis mistake but he shot over, while Archer was wasteful when he was presented with a clear-cut scoring opportunity.
Carlisle were better in the second-half but they suffered a blow when forward Charlie Wyke was stretchered off after being hurt in a tackle.
United did at least look better going forward and they did have a great opportunity to earn a point but Harrison Biggins missed the target.
Not for the first time the team was booed off at the end and head coach Mike Williamson has a massive task on his hands to turn things round at Brunton Park.
