
Lokeni Savelio was a popular prop forward who played for Workington Town between 2000 and 2002.
The Samoan international played 58 games for Town, scoring seven tries after previously playing for Salford, Halifax and Widnes.
His son Andre has followed him into the game, playing for St Helens, Warrington, Hull and Huddersfield but now the 29-year-old been forced to leave the game to concentrate on health issues.
“I’m going to take some time to look after my personal health, and reassess what my options are moving forward.” said Savelio who missed the first half of the season due to a head issue.
He subsequently played nine times for the Giants but said that because of the health issues its been the toughest year he’s had in rugby league.
Although born in New Zealand, he was mainly raised in Warrington when his dad Lokeni arrived to play in the UK.
