PCSO Dan Snell

A new PCSO has joined the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team this month.

PCSO Dan Snell will be covering the Workington North area alongside community beat officer Luke McKenna.

Over the next few weeks will be introducing himself to the local communities, local business, and partners.

PCSOs support the work of the constabulary by providing a visible presence on the streets. They work closely with the community to provide an approachable uniformed presence with the aim of addressing crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour, thus improving the quality of life in local communities.

Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Pete Aiston said “PCSO Snell will join the wider Neighbourhood Policing Team to understand and tackle issues in the Workington North area such as anti-social behaviour.

“He will work closely with colleagues and our partners in the local focus hub.

“If you see any of our officers out on patrol, please say hi and speak to them about any issues. We also hold meetings within the community which you can find advertised on our social media and website.”

Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, said: “I’m delighted to see a new PSCO join our ranks in Workington.

“On my visits around the county, talking to local residents and the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, I have seen first-hand how invaluable the work of PCSOs in our communities is. Their role is vital to building local relationships, trust and confidence in how we police, whilst helping to reduce anti-social behaviour before it grows into a criminal concern.

“When I was elected, one of my key pledges was, and still is, to ensure more visible and community policing. Neighbourhood Policing Teams, of which PCSOs are a component part are vital to this pledge which is why it is always incredibly positive to see them grow.

“PSCO Snell is a brilliant addition to the Neighbourhood Policing Team and I look forward to hearing about his work in the community.”
