‘Seaton Rangers made right decision to pull out of National Conference’ — coach

Coach Neil Frazer believes that Seaton Rangers made the right decision to pull out of the National Conference League next season.

The villagers said that they will rebuild in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland League, and Frazer is right behind that.

He told Cumbria Crack: “The conference was asking the club to put down a bond of £1,000 which they would lose if any fixtures weren‘t fulfilled.

“With a couple of Humberside teams in Division Three next season travelling could be an issue and if we lost that amount of money it could have serious consequences.

“We have some good young 16-year-olds coming through and if we can develop them in a lower standard to the conference but still in a good competition it will do them the world of good.

“The lads just need to enjoy their rugby again and get a few wins to build confidence.

“The club still has ambitions to get back in the conference and in a couple of years hopefully these youngsters will have come on and we can look at it again.

“We have a group of 26-year-olds and about 30 lads who have said they are prepared top play next season. We will see how things are looking when we start training in January.”

Seaton were in the NCL Division Three for three years, doing well in 2022 but struggled for numbers in 2023 and the season just ended when they did not fulfil two fixtures.
