Action resumes in Cumberland County League

After weeks of different cup competitions being played, the majority of clubs enjoyed some action once again in the Cumberland County League.

There was one exception – Premier Division Unisun Athletic still had their Fred Conway Cumberland Cup second round tie to play, welcoming Westmorland League Division Two’s Greystoke to the Sheepmount in Carlisle.

Unisun marched into the quarter final after a 5-0 victory with Dillon Burns scoring four of those goals and Ellis Dickinson grabbing the other.

In the Premier Division, title holders Maryport Athletic remain unbeaten after a 5-2 win against Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves with Alec Little hitting a hat trick.

Aaron Hoad-Williams and Attlee Skillenalso netted for Maryport while Ryan Hall got a brace for Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves.

Lewis Park bagged himself four goals to help Whitehaven Miners Social overcome Wigton Harriers 5-3. Bradley O’Pray also netted a penalty for Miners with Andy Hill scoring twice for Wigton and Anthony Wright also finding the back of the net.

In Division One, goals from JamesLee Reynolds (3), Jordan Carney, Oliver Karge and Paul Irving provided Unisun Athletic Youth Development with a 6-2 victory against Cockermouth Reserves.

Troy Paterson and Ewan Harrison both scored for Cockermouth.

Mirehouse were 4-0 winners against Silloth with Callum Wilson, Nicky McAllister, Jack Burns and Kyle Bailiff providing the goals.

Liam O’Pray, Ce-Jay Irvine and Chris Armstrong were all on target for Bransty Rangers to help them to a 3-0 win against Windscale Reserves.

The Whitehaven derby finished 1-1 when Whitehaven Miners Social Development hosted Whitehaven AFC Reserves.

Ryan Stanborough scored for Miners with Will Starkey finding the back of the net for the visitors.

Next Saturday will see a mixture of league and cup action, all 2pm kick-offs.

  • Cockermouth Reserves v Whitehaven Miners Social Development 
  • Windscale Reserves v Silloth
