A remarkable four-year-old chequer hen won a fifth show for the McLuckie brothers at Flimby.
Morris and Wayne have now collected five wins and two seconds with her after she was selected from 49 entries at the Flimby HS show for old hens by judge Mark Rudd from Whitehaven.
But in a follow-up two days later at Workington Victoria’s show for old hens, she didn’t get a ticket – and the McLuckie brothers got three on the night. That’s the beauty of the showing game, it’s the judge’s pick on the night.
The full result from Flimby HS was: 1, McLuckie bros; 2, 4, 5, Bromley and co; 3, Nelson and Crellin; 6, R. McAvoy; 7, Williams and Hadfield; 8, Varty, son and grandson.
This week’s Flimby show on Wednesday is for young cocks, with judging at 7.30pm.
The Workington Victoria show had 40 entries and they were judged by Billy Southward.
He gave tickets to: 1, 2, Varty son grandson; 3, A. Hayton; 4, Williams and Hadfield; 5, Martindale and Lawman; 6, 7, 8, McLuckie bros.
Friday’s show is for young cocks in the Union Jack Club with judging starting at 7.30pm.
