Barrow’s unfortunate penchant for conceding late goals has seen them slide from League Two joint table-toppers to a mid-table berth.
The Bluebirds haven’t won in their last seven League games, several marred by conceding late goals.
Head coach Stephen Clemence is clearly frustrated but admits he doesn’t know the reason for it.
After the latest setback – conceding an 89th minute goal at Chesterfield to go down 1-0 -he expressed his dismay at the continued run without a win.
He said: “When you look back at the game, for large parts of it our shape was very good and we restricted Chesterfield to very little.
“But at the end of the day we have let in another late goal and that’s not good enough and certainly is not acceptable because it’s happening too much recently.
“I don’t know why it is happening, and at the moment I don’t have the answers. We have got to make things tougher and to stand up to balls played into our box at the end of games.
“If the ball comes into the box and we don’t get a challenge in on it, that’s not good enough for me.
“I want us to have the mentality of being on the front foot and for us to be playing up the pitch and not going back to the edge of our box at the end of games, that is one thing that is probably costing us.”
