Despite Storm Bert postponing Cumbrian football on Saturday, the West Cumberland Sunday League saw some action the following day.
Five games took place – one in the Premier Division and the other four in Division One.
Both the respective league leaders won, Northside at Lowca in the Premier and Zebras at home to Sun Inn Athletic in Division One.
Northside were 3-0 winners against the Pirates in what they might have regarded as a potential banana skin.
Chad Grisedale, Josh Hoggarth and Jamie Glover scored the goals for the champions and they now have a nine-point lead over Deer Orchard, with the Cockermouth side having four games in hand.
In Division One the Zebras were 6-1 winners against Sun Inn Athletic as Scott Underwood (4) and Stevie Owens (2) were on target. Dan Dobson responded for Athletic.
Zebras lead the way by two points from Thornhill who were 5-0 winners against Whitehaven Development.
Harry Hodgson, Steven Walker, Reece Bewley, Jack Rose and an Andrew Monaghan own goal made-up the Thornhill total. That was enough for Thornhill to leapfrog Whitehaven Development in the table.
Biggest winners of the day were the Sun who swept aside Senhouse Street 11-2 with goals from Brandon O’Fee (2), Dan Hill (2), Owen Fearon (2), Dylan Hudson, Liam King, Joe Dobinson, Isaac Scott and Hayden Whittingham.
In the only other game played, Salterbeck won 4-3 at Royal Oak through goals from Leon Wharrier (2), Arley Fennessey and Liam Currier. Ryan Smith, Connor Buck and Alan Sim replied for The Oak.
