Keswick Cricket Club all-rounder Glen Weightman has scooped most of Cumbria Cricket League’s Premier Division top awards.
The awards were presented by former England and Glamorgan player Robert Croft at the league’s annual presentation held in Workington.
Weightman already knew he had won the prizes for leading amateur run scorer (698 runs) and batting average (58.17) but the icing on the cake was being voted by fellow league players the Players’ Player of Year award, only announced on the presentation evening.
While clearly proud of his achievements Weightman, who has also played cricket and rugby union for the county, said: “I would swap it all (the awards) for a league title.”
Keswick has never won the CCL, formerly the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League top division title since being promoted to the top flight in 2003, but it has been knocking on the door in recent seasons.
Other Premier Division award winners were Josh Brown, of Cockermouth Cricket Club, for the most wickets (46) and Nico Watt, of Carlisle Cricket Club, for the top amateur bowler (39 wickets at an average of 9.38).
The wicket keeping award went to Chad Pearson, Cockermouth Cricket Club, with 26 victims – 16 catches and 10 stumpings.
