West Cumbrian Jordan Clark had a game to remember in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament – although his side were beaten in the end.
Playing for Team Abu Dhabi against the unbeaten Morrisville Samp Army he was the pick of the bowlers as he produced impressive figures of 4-6 in 1.4 overs.
In the end the Samp Army team were bowled out for 109 in 9.4 overs but In reply, Team Abu Dhabi were quickly reduced to 13/3 in the chase.
Then, although England’s forgotten star Jonny Bairstow stood strong and smashed an unbeaten 70 off 30 that included 6 sixes and five fours, there was little or no support.
Despite the Yorkshireman’s efforts, Team Abu Dhabi could only manage 106/4 in their 10 overs to lose by just three runs. Clark was waiting to bat next.
As well as Bairstow, Clark’s team-mates included another England international in Phil Salt who opened the innings and made nine off ten deliveries.
While Samp Army have already qualified for the knockouts with 12 points from six matches under their belt, Team Abu Dhabi have three wins and 6 points in the kitty from 6 games. They will next play Northern Warriors in their last round-robin match and will look to win the match by a big margin.
Clark is a product of the Cleator club where is father Ian is still playing in the Cumbria League alongside Jordan’s brother Darren. Another brother Graham plays for Durham.
Following his switch from Lancashire in 2018 Clark has been part of a hugely successful Surrey side which clinched a third successive County Championship this season.
Clark certainly played his part this year, especially with the ball, completing 2,130 overs and taking 48 wickets at a cost of 21.35.
