Carlisle City earned a welcome point at Guisborough Town – and an extra boost with a clean sheet from a 0-0 draw.
It was the second time that Dan Kirkup had taken his side there and came away without conceding a goal.
The first occasion was an FA Vase tie when City won 1-0 and this latest visit and hard-earned draw was a boost ahead of the next stage of the FA Vase.
City travel to Crook Town on Saturday in the third round and success would take them further than the club has ever been before.
It’s a big game for the club, players and management with the majority of their best performances this season coming in the FA Vase or the Fred Conway County Cup.
But Kirkup is having to make a change to his backroom staff with his assistant Michael Slack having to step away from football for the moment.
