A new bereavement cafe will launch in a West Cumbrian town in the new year.
Hosted by Hospice at Home West Cumbria, the new cafe in Cleator Moor will join the two bereavement groups that the charity currently provides in Whitehaven and Cockermouth.
The groups offer a supportive space for individuals dealing with the loss of a loved one. The informal gatherings aim to provide comfort and companionship for those navigating the challenging journey of grief, offering a welcoming environment where individuals can share their experiences and find support from others who understand.
The bereavement cafes are designed to offer both emotional and practical support, with trained volunteers on hand to provide guidance and help people connect with others in similar situations.
The first bereavement café in Cleator Moor will take place at St John’s in the Hall, Crossfield Community Centre, from January, and is open to anyone who has experienced loss, regardless of whether they have received hospice care.
Claire Jenkinson, family and bereavement services team leader, said: “We understand how isolating grief can be and we hope that these bereavement cafes will provide a place for individuals to find comfort, share stories and gain strength from one another. Grief is a personal journey, but it doesn’t have to be faced alone.”
