Workington Speedway have completed their line-up for the 2025 season by signing 22-year-old Australian Jacob Hook.
Hook, from Brisbane, joins Workington Comets to fill the final place at reserve.
His signing means that the Comets will start in the Championship next year with five Australians in their line-up.
He joins fellow countrymen Tate Zischke, Troy Batchelor, Fraser Bowes and Jye Etheridge in what must be some form of record.
The promotion say they have learned from last season and realised two strong reserves can win you those big meetings.
They have a strong feeling that with the exciting capture of all-action young Brit Vinnie Foord and a strong, experienced partner at reserve in Hook it could be the trump card needed to earn the Comets those big results in big meetings.
Hook, who has formally rode for Edinburgh, Berwick and Plymouth last season, has shown a great liking to the GT Tyres Arena – winning his final race at Workington with Plymouth last season.
Workington Speedway promoter Andrew Bain expressed his delighted at snapping up the Australian at reserve for next season.
He said: “This is great news to finish our team-building for next season. Jacob, although still young, has been over in the UK for a number of seasons and has experience of the British tracks and I think this will one of our keys to success in 2025.

“Also the experience Jacob has, he will be able to pass onto his new reserve partner Vinnie [Foord] which is what a young rider like Vinnie needs to progress.
“We are really happy with the team we have put together for next season and our fans should be as well.
“Once again we have the exciting youthfulness to the team in Vinnie, Tate and Fraser but also the experience with the likes of Batch [Troy Batchelor], Antti [Vuolas] and Jye [Etheridge] in there.
“There’s a great balance to the team and they all have the potential to improve again next season. We have what we feel are two strong reserves, who are all out racers and we didn’t have for the majority of last season.
“It is just a case now of seeing what 2025 brings and hopefully we get some success along the way – but we think this team has what it takes to be a successful one.”
Jacob Hook completes the GT Tyres Comets line-up with a starting average of 4.19.
