It’s now four wins out of four for Workington Zebra Finches as they further enhanced their League 2 North title credentials with a convincing 61-5 victory at North Ribblesdale, writes John Hastings.
Brilliant work-rate from Workington’s forwards – especially Danielle Easdon – drew in the opposition, thus enabling the backs to benefit and create clinical attacks that North Ribblesdale just couldn’t withstand.
History was made as winger Megan Donald scored six tries to equal the record set by Nicole Stewart in 2018. With nine tries already, Donald is not only six off her total of last season but also banging on the door for Cumbria recognition ahead of next year’s County Championship.
Further Workington tries came from Caitlin Jenkinson and Lauren Coulson – each with two – with another by captain Juliet Porter, while Donald added two conversions as well as one by Elsa Whelan.
Although the Finches have the league’s only 100% record, they remain third, three points behind Old Crossleyans but having three games in hand owing to postponements.
