Emergency services were called out in the early hours of yesterday to help a person at Maryport harbour.
Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team, Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team, Cumbria police and the North West Ambulance Service were called yesterday, Thursday December 19, after concerns of a person’s welfare in the Shipping Brow area.
The person inadvertently entered the water after they slipped.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “A Coastguard Rescue Swimmer was deployed to secure the casualty while recovery was made into Maryport Rescue’s emergency rescue boat, before being transferred to the lifeboat slip and into the care of the ambulance crew.”
