The alert means flooding is possible and people should be prepared.
The alert is for the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater.
Following recent heavy rain, the Lodore gauge has reached flood alert.
Flooding is possible at locations near the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the Upper Derwent from Seathwaite to Derwentwater.
The forecast is to improve with some showers over the weekend.
People are urged to avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
It is not expected that a flood warning will be issued for this area, and river and rainfall levels will continue to be monitored.
