Police mounted a search in the Egremont area after a report that a child was spotted on their own.
The report was made at around 8pm yesterday, Sunday December 22, when it was reported that a boy was seen on the town’s Main Street at around 7.10pm.
Cumbria police said officers had carried out extensive enquiries in the surrounding area but had not found a child.
Although the boy was first reported to be around five years old and wearing pyjamas, police said CCTV enquiries had established the boy looked to be around 10.
At 8.40am today, Monday December 23, police issued an update saying the boy had been identified and no concerns reported.
