Plans have been lodged to repair an A595 bridge after being hit several times by vehicles.
Westmorland and Furness Council has submitted an application to the Lake District National Park Authority for listed building consent to repair damage to the 18th century Duddon Bridge.
It said its walls had been subject to numerous vehicle strikes over time, which had resulted in areas of loose and missing material as well as damaged and broken coping units.
It is planned to repair some of the coping units with matching stone while others are set for replacement.
Repairs would be carried out under a night time closure to safeguard the workforce and minimise disruption to road users.
The application is under consideration.
