
A 19-year-old has been banned from several shops across Cumbria for two years.
Josiah George, of no fixed address, has been given a criminal behaviour order to protect local businesses.
The order follows George appearing at court for thee counts of theft from a shop, common assault on an emergency worker, two counts of possession of bladed article in a public place and obstruction of officer lawfully executing their duty.
The order was secured yesterday, January 8 and George must not:
- Not enter any retail premises or properties that are members of Whitehaven Shop Watch Scheme or who display the Shop Watch logo, except for West Cumberland Hospital for the purpose of seeking medical treatment.
- Not enter any retail premises or properties that are members of the Copeland Rural Shop Watch Scheme.
- Not enter any property or premises that are members of the Workington Schemelink or who display the Schemelink sign at any time.
- Not enter Asda, St Nicholas Gate Retail Park, London Road, Carlisle, CA1 2EA
- Not enter Sainsbury’s Supermarket, Church Street, Carlisle, CA2 5S
- Not enter Costcutter, Station Road, Workington, CA14 2UZ
- Not enter Vape Station, 9A Lowther Street, Carlisle, CA3 8ES
He was also given a fine, compensation and 12-month community order.
Community beat officer Sarah Hindle said: “This Criminal Behaviour Order will prevent George from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.
“The punishment for breaking the terms of a order can be up to five years in prison.”
