Around 8,500 people went skating at a Lake District hotel this Christmas.

An ice rink was installed at Another Place, the Lake in Ullswater over the festive period.

It opened to guests on December 1 in champion style as British Olympic ice skaters David and Stacey King, of Carlisle, put on a spectacular showcase.

During 35 days of skating, the ice rink welcomed 8,500 skaters and served 4,339 pizzas.

Nine school groups also visited the rink.

General manager Jamie Adamson said: “We’re delighted to have such a positive number of enquiries from local residents and community groups and be able to welcome them to Another Place.

“It was wonderful to see people of all ages and abilities take to the ice – some for the first time and some, more seasoned.”

The Another Place team were also approached by several competitive skaters keen to use the rink, and sessions were scheduled for them to showcase their routines in front of guests.

While it has not been confirmed that the ice rink will return for 2025, the Another Place team hope that it will come back for a longer period.
