A pensioner in South Cumbria has been defrauded out of thousands of pounds.
South Lakes Police said that officers had received a report that the elderly man, who lives in the Milnthorpe area, had been the victim of a fraud.
It said that an investigation by the neighbourhood policing team revealed he had been conned out of cash at least three times, with thousands of pounds taken.
A 51-year-old man has been arrested in Carlisle in connection with the fraud.
South Lakes Police added: “Please report any concerns you have about elderly friends, neighbours or family members who you suspect may be being targeted by doorstep, telephone or online fraudsters. This helps us to investigate any offences that have occurred and safeguard the person from further financial abuse.”
