
The big freeze managed to wipe out almost all of the local non league matches in Cumbria, however there was one survivor.
Thanks to the artificial turf at Lakes College, Lillyhall, Workington Juniors against Whitehaven AFC Reserves went ahead in Cumberland County League Division One.
Whitehaven, currently sitting fifth in the league had hopes of gaining three points and moving up the table.
However they faced a tough test against a Workington Juniors outfit who are flying at the top of the league.
Unfortunately on this occasion, the Reds were too strong for Whitehaven AFC Reserves and they ran out 4-0 winners.
Macauley Sharp found the back of the net in the 35th minute. Jay Connor grabbed himself a goal on the hour mark with Niall Melton scoring on 75 minutes.
Goal number four was add by Jack Dunstan with five minutes of normal time remaining.
This victory means Workington are now 8 points clear at the top of Division One in their debut season.
On Wednesday, Bransty Rangers host Wigton Harriers in the Benevolent Cup Quarter Final, kick-off 7pm.
