A man found with 1kg of cocaine – with an estimated street value of £100,000 – has been jailed for three years.
Daniel Faughey, 28, of Holmrook Road, Carlisle, was jailed at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday, Thursday January 16, after admitting possession of cocaine with intent to supply.
Faughey was driving a Ford Transit in Carlisle on September 11 2024 when officers attempted to stop him and check the vehicle.
Faughey refused to comply and attempted to drive off but was subsequently stopped by police.
Officers carried out a search of the vehicle and recovered a 1kg block of cocaine.
Police carried out a further search of Faughey’s home and seized further class A drugs and paraphernalia.
Analysis of Faughey’s phone also provided evidence of his having been involved in drug supply since 2023, Cumbria police said.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police’s Serious Organised Crime Unit said: “The defendant was found in possession of a significant amount of cocaine which would have found itself onto the streets, either here in Cumbria or elsewhere.
“We are committed to going after those people who think they can involve themselves in the supply of drugs and get away with it.
“We will make arrests and we will put you before a court.”
