Rail passengers are urged not to travel tomorrow due to Storm Éowyn.
All trains running north of Preston on the West Coast Main Line are cancelled tomorrow, Friday January 24, due to the expected gale-force winds.
Services will also not run on the Barrow to Windermere line, the Settle to Carlisle line and the Cumbrian coast line.
The decision has been made by Network Rail and Northern Rail as northern England is expected to bear the brunt of the storm.
Trains will also not run north of Newcastle on the East Coast Main Line which will impact Anglo-Scots services. Services will also not run between Barrow and Lancaster.
Some additional platforms may also be closed due to the high winds.
TransPennine Express is also urging customers not to travel between Manchester/Liverpool and Glasgow/Edinburgh, or on services between York, Newcastle, and Edinburgh.
With an amber weather warning in place any services that are able to run are expected to be affected by delays and short notice cancellations.
Customers with tickets across the affected routes can either defer their journey or use tickets for travel between today, Thursday January 23, to Monday January 27 inclusive. Alternatively, they can request a full refund at tpexpress.co.uk/help/refunds.
