A West Cumbrian drug dealer caught red handed with prepared street deals of cocaine has been jailed.
John James Thompson, aged 32, of Harriston, Aspatria, was sentenced on Tuesday January 21 at Carlisle Crown Court for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He was handed a custodial sentence of two years and eight months.
The sentencing follows a proactive stop and search of Thompson in Aspatria in September last year.
Officers found 13 wraps of cocaine in his jacket and £40 in cash.
The drugs, which were prepared for street deals, were subsequently confirmed as cocaine worth a value of £390.
A spokesperson from Cumberland’s Community Serious and Organised Crime Unit, said: “We hope that Thompson’s sentencing provides a warning to other people who involve themselves in the trading of illegal drugs.
“Our officers are proactive in disrupting those involved in drug supply, and we will continue to use our policing powers to bring offenders to justice.
“The supply of controlled drugs can have a detrimental impact on wider communities.
“The public can help us with our work to hold criminals accountable for their actions by reporting information to us. If you believe drug dealing is occurring in your area and you have information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.”
