A mammoth charity vehicle pull in Cumbria will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
Organised by Kevin Kirkby, it will involve a four ton minibus, 60 determined volunteers and a lot of grunt.
Due to take place on October 5 in Sedbergh, it will raise funds for the town’s Sandgate School.
Those who have volunteered to pull the bus along the Greyhound Hill road for two miles are school staff, friends and family, Sedbergh Young Farmers, Network Rail staff, Sedbergh school students, Sedbergh and Dent football club members plus others.
Kevin said: “The event will start at 8.30am and the team will attempt to pull the school’s 4 ton minibus 2 miles junction to junction up the notorious Greyhound Hill out of Kendal, with the first mile being completely up hill under the railway bridge.”
It’s Kevin’s 25th event in the last 29 years and they have raised thousands of pounds for charity.
He added: ” They are popular but hard events and we always get a tremendous support from the volunteers, big crowds and local sponsors.
“Once we’ve finished our mammoth feat we’ll drop down into Kendal Cricket Club for the afternoon’s refreshments and socialising. “
