A road is set to close near Kirkbampton to allow for essential drainage work.

Cumberland Council is carrying out drainage improvement works between Thurstonfield and Kirkbampton on the B5307.

This project is scheduled to begin from Monday February 3, and is expected to take around 10 days to complete, subject to weather conditions.

Several sunken and damaged gullies along the B5307 in Thurstonfield will be replaced to prevent flooding in residents’ driveways.

Minor pothole repairs covering 29 square metres will be completed.

A full road closure will be in place throughout the work, with a diversion route in place, to protect workers and the public.

Work will take place Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm, and the road will remain closed for the duration of the work, excluding weekends.

Residents or businesses requiring access to their property or business, are encouraged with site staff during working hours, or contact the council in advance by visiting Cumberland Council website, or calling the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.

Full access will be available for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists throughout the work.

Waste and recycling collections will proceed as usual, while updates about temporary bus stop relocations will be posted at affected stops.

The council said people with bus route questions should contact Stagecoach directly.
