2,000 diecast models, rare Dungeons & Dragons magazines & Steiff toys on offer at Mitchells

Mitchells next Vintage & Antique Toy Sale features a private collection of 2,000 diecast vehicles, 100 Charlie Bears and Steiff toys as well as vintage Dungeons & Dragons magazines.

It will be held at the firm’s Cockermouth saleroom on Thursday, February 13.

Valuable models for sale include a rare antique continental tinplate fireman’s tanker estimated at £300-£400 and a fine cased model of HMS Victory which is expected to sell for £80-£120.

A huge private collection of 2,000 diecast models is being sold in 130 lots and includes four boxed vehicles by Maisto, a Jaguar X Type, Opel Speedster, Porsche 911 and a Lamborghini with an estimate of £40-£60.

A large collection of Lego, including many sealed boxes, and nine large wooden and metal models of trucks, trams and motorbikes are also for sale.

Highlights among a private collection of over 100 Charlie Bears and Steiff soft toys, including a large Steiff polar bear Arco, complete with ear button and tag, with an estimate of £40-£60.

Model railway items include a Mamod 0 gauge live steam model railway set with locomotive, lumber truck and open wagon which is expected to make £120 to £180 and four Hornby 00 gauge Hamleys Express class coaches, estimated at £40-£60.

For sale among the vintage books and magazines are the original first five editions of the 1970s Dungeons & Dragons magazine The Dragon, which are expected to make between £400 to £600 due to their rarity and popularity among collectors.

Action Man, Star Trek models, vintage toys, games consoles and games, an Amiga computer and a range of accessories are also for sale.

An early collection of RPG magazines including White Dwarf Issue 1 and Dungeons and Dragons magazine To the Aid of Falx and collectable Dr Who figures, dolls, Technic, lead figures, Game of Thrones, Lord of The Rings, vintage jigsaws and games are also up for sale.

Lots are on view in the saleroom on Wednesday February 12 from 10am to 7pm and throughout the sale.

A fully illustrated catalogue can be viewed online at www.the-saleroom.com/Mitchells where buyers can also register to bid live during the auction or leave automatic bids.

Alternatively, those unable to attend the sale can arrange to bid by telephone or leave commission bids in advance by contacting the saleroom.
