Arrest after Whitehaven town centre crash

A man has been arrested after leaving the scene of a collision in Whitehaven.

Copeland Police said officers responded to the two-vehicle incident on Lowther Street this morning, Friday February 7.

They added: “An investigation was immediately launched after it was established that the driver of one of the vehicles had left the scene of the crash prior to police arrival.

“Following local enquiries the driver in question was identified and later arrested for a number of offences, including taking a motor vehicle without consent, he remains in custody pending further enquiries.”
