A Cumbrian student is set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for a mental health charity.
Ruth Atkinson, of Moor Row, is gearing up to climb Africa’s highest peak for Student Minds.
Ruth, who studies podiatry at the University of Salford, has recently returned from studying in the USA, and has set her sights on climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September alongside a group of her peers.
Kilimanjaro has a summit of 19,341ft – the equivalent of six Scafell Pikes or just over 80% of the way up Mount Everest.
Whitehaven Marras & Arras will hold a charity darts open on July 5 in aid of Ruth’s efforts.
