A damaged electricity line has caused a mobile signal outage in Whitehaven.
People using the EE network in the town have reported being unable to make calls, send text messages or use mobile data – with some saying the issue has been ongoing for weeks.
The mobile network provider has now said the outage is due to damage caused during construction works to a main electricity line that provides power to the mast site.
A spokesman added: “We are aware that some customers are experiencing issues with their mobile connectivity in some parts of Whitehaven.
“The main electricity line which provides power to a local mobile mast site was damaged by a third-party during construction works which took place nearby.
“We are working closely with the landowner on a solution to restore power to the site – and therefore the mobile signal – as quickly as we can.
“It is an urgent priority for us to restore services to our customers and we thank them for their patience while we work to resolve this with our partners.”
While EE have not yet issued an estimated date for when the mast will be fixed, some customers have received texts saying an update will be provided by February 21.
