Mobile phone woes are continuing for EE customers in West Cumbria.
People using the EE network in Whitehaven have reported being unable to make calls, send text messages or use mobile data – with some saying the issue has been ongoing for weeks.
The mobile network provider has now said the issue was due to damage caused during construction work by a third party to a mains electricity line that provided power to the mast site.
While the firm said it did not have a statement to share about the issue, it could confirm that engineering teams had met on site to agree on what was needed to repair the damage.
The cables were severed, which means a new run needed to be established.
A spokesman said the repair was a high priority for the company and it was working hard to bring its services back on air as quickly as possible.
While EE has not yet issued an estimated date for when the mast will be fixed, some customers at the end of last week received texts saying an update will be provided by February 21.
