A West Cumbrian town is getting ready to celebrate its first ever pride.
Workington Pride will take place on Saturday April 26 from 12pm until 7pm and is being organised by Over The Rainbow Support CIC.
Organisers are promising the event will be a vibrant celebration of love, diversity and inclusivity for all.
Vulcan Park will play host to the free-to-attend inaugural event, which will feature live music, food stalls and a bar, guest talks, workshops and market stalls championing local businesses and other non-profit organisations.
Queer and local musicians and performers will star at the event in lieu of a headliner act to highlight the homegrown talent Cumbria has to offer.
The event is aiming to foster a sense of pride and belonging while raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in Cumbria.
Chief executive M-Jay Fulton said: “Workington Pride 2025 is all about celebrating who we are, our journey and the strength we find in community.
“We invite everyone – regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity – to come together, learn, support one another and have fun!”
Workington Pride will also work in collaboration with local businesses and organisations to promote awareness and understanding around LGBTQ+ issues and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.
The event will be the latest rural pride set up in Cumbria following successes in Whitehaven, Kendal, Barrow and Silloth.
Workington Pride is being sponsored by several local businesses including Sellafield Ltd One LGBTQ+ Network, Dobies Cumbria Charitable Trust, H&H Land and Estates, Morgan Sindall, Holmen Iggesund, Workington Together Community Panel, Cumberland Council, Lakes College and Rolling Pub Co.
Businesses are still welcome to sponsor the event and can get in touch at workingtonpride@overtherainbowsupport.co.uk
VIP packages are also on offer for attendees looking for on the day discounts, merchandise, VIP area access and more.
