Copeland Amateur Swimming Club has welcomed their local MP to an introductory visit to the club.
Josh MacAlister, who represents Whitehaven & Workington, met with the club’s officials and swimmers at Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre in Whitehaven, before having the chance to see the club’s newly bought kit – an electronic scoreboard and shallow end turning boards.
The improvement project has been delivered after the club secured a £14,365 grant from the Government, via the Copeland Community Fund.
Mr MacAlister said: “It’s fantastic to see all the great work that goes on at Copeland ASC, delivered by a dedicated team of volunteers.
“It is encouraging to see so many young people enjoying being involved in swimming, and I congratulate all those involved in the equipment upgrade that will allow the club to continue to thrive.”
Andy Sutton, Copeland ASC chairman, said: “We are always looking at ways to drive the club forward, and the upgrade of our facilities is the latest example of that.
“We were pleased to invite Josh to our training night to introduce him to our club, and to discuss the many benefits swimming has for our members and the community.
“We thank Josh for his support and look forward to welcoming him back again in the future.”
