A Cumbrian animal charity is saying a big thank you to everyone who supported its Big Breakfast to raise funds to complete a new dog kennel complex at Eden Animal Rescue’s base at Moorlands Head Farm.
The event at Langwathby Village Hall on Sunday raised over £1,300
Work started on the new kennels in late 2023 and was completed in December. It was only possible due to two legacies and some very generous donations plus a lot of fundraising.
The building will house up to 20 dogs and will provide comfort and conditions far superior to the present kennels. Once the final fitting out is complete the dogs will move in, hopefully in early March.
The charity had a target of £500,0000 to complete the project and has now reached the halfway point.
Organiser of the Big Breakfast, and a trustee of Eden Animal Rescue, Fran Flower said: “Events like the Big Breakfast are important for raising money to finance the project.
“We are extremely grateful to all the volunteers and those who came along to support the event, and enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast. Over 120 breakfasts were served. That’s a lot of cooking and a lot of washing up!
“Without the help of our supporters and volunteers this project would not have been possible. We have more fundraising events coming up, and there are opportunities to sponsor a kennel to help raise the final funds needed.”
