Twenty five Cumbrian schools are among the first 750 announced that will provide free daily breakfast clubs for pupils.
The Government has revealed the schools are part of a pilot scheme which will run before it is rolled out across England.
Starting in April, 180,000 pupils in England will be offered breakfasts before the school day starts.
Schools taking part will be given a payment to cover equipment and material to set up their breakfast club and will be reimbursed by the Government for their ongoing costs based on attendances.
The Government said the clubs were estimated to save parents up to £450 a year.

Carlisle MP Julie Minns said: “I am delighted that seven local primary schools will be among the first to benefit from the Government’s new free breakfast clubs. A decent breakfast is vital for excelling at school, and it’s fantastic that hundreds of children locally will be benefiting from a free nutritious meal each morning.”
Michelle Scrogham, MP for Barrow and Furness, said: “It is great that two local schools will be among the first in the country to benefit from Labour’s free breakfast clubs. Breakfast clubs have been shown to boost children’s reading, writing, and maths by an average of two months.
“I am grateful to both schools for putting themselves forward to be part of the first wave. I have already had lots of parents contacting me to ask about when the scheme will available in their own school, and I look forward to the full roll out of the scheme to all primary schools next year.”
