Four people arrested after reports of tragedy chanting during a Carlisle United game have been told by police that no criminal action will be taken.
Police made a public appeal and asked for any witnesses to come forward as part of an investigation launched as United took on Bradford City in a League 2 fixture at Brunton Park on Saturday January 18.
Tragedy chanting — defined as making reference to tragic events involving opposing clubs — was reported to have been heard close to a segregation line separating Carlisle and Bradford supporters in the Andrew Jenkins Stand during the first half of the fixture.
Cumbria police confirmed following the game that four males – two aged 17, one aged 18 and the other 20 – all from Cumbria, had been arrested on that day.
All were bailed pending further enquiries.
They were due to answer their bail earlier this week.
A Cumbria police spokesman said this morning: “The four people who were arrested have been released with no further criminal action to be taken.”
