Over £24,000 has been raised in memory of a 10-year-old girl who died following a collision in Kendal.
Poppy Atkinson was involved in a collision with a car on Wednesday March 5 on a sports pitch at Kendal Rugby Union Football Club on Shap Road.
Several football teams and stars have paid tribute to the youngster over the weekend.
Condolences have also been shared on social media by some of the England Women’s team, including Georgia Stanway, one of Poppy’s footballing idols, who is from Barrow.
The footballer said: “Devastating. Sending all my love and condolences to the family and all affected. The football world will miss you Poppy. You will always play a special role.”
Fellow Lioness Ella Toone, who was also one of poppy’s idols, dedicated the team’s Sunderland FA Cup win to Poppy on Saturday and captain Maya Le Tissier held up a shirt with her name on.

Poppy’s uncles Gary Gregory and Thomas Atkinson have since launched an online fundraiser, which aims to cover memorial costs and support grassroots football teams from across the UK.
It has now raised over £24,512 with the help of people, organisations and football clubs from across the county and beyond.
Poppy’s family paid tribute to the little girl, who dreamed of becoming a footballer, on Thursday.
She played for both Kendal United’s U12 girls team and Morecambe Girls.
“Poppy touched so many lives, it was easy to see why, her energy, character, spirit and passion for football was infectious and touched huge numbers of people.”

Poppy’s uncles have also said sharing the appeal and wearing red for Manchester United or team colours in her memory are encouraged.
