A fundraising appeal for Prism, Cumbria’s only specialist disability arts organisation, has smashed its £2,000 target.
Prism was taking part in the seven-day Big Give campaign which saw every pound donated by a supported doubled – and it raised £2,510.
The cash will directly support Prism’s Studio Programmes, which run four days a week in Cumbria, offering visual and performing arts sessions for learning disabled and autistic people.
These sessions provide life-changing confidence, meaningful connections, and a chance to be part of a thriving creative community.
As the only specialist disability arts organisation in Cumbria, Prism plays a crucial role in empowering learning disabled and neurodivergent individuals, who face significant barriers to employment, cultural participation, and social inclusion.

They are more likely to experience unemployment, financial hardship, and social isolation, challenges that are further exacerbated by Cumbria’s rurality and limited transport links. They also lack opportunities to enter the creative sector, despite their talents and potential.
Prism has been at the forefront of disability arts in Cumbria since 1987.
For over 37 years, the charity has provided opportunities for learning disabled and autistic artists to create and showcase outstanding work through exhibitions and performances.
The organisation also offers pathways into employment through internships and leadership opportunities, ensuring that their artists have a voice in shaping the cultural sector.

Prism said thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and supported the campaign.
It added: “Your generosity ensures that learning disabled and neurodivergent artists continue to have access to high-quality arts opportunities, fostering creativity, confidence, and community in Cumbria.”
