Work to install a puffin crossing near a Whitehaven school will begin next month.
The crossing, on Red Lonning, is being installed by Cumberland Council in response to community concerns over pedestrian safety.
The council has worked with Campus Whitehaven and local councillors to develop a solution that benefits all road users, it said.
The installation will take place from Monday April 7 to Friday April 18.
A full road closure will be in place, including weekends.
Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times, and there will be no effect on waste collections or bus services, the authority said.
