A Workington charity shop will close its doors for the final time after 28 years in the town.
The British Heart Foundation general store, on Pow Street, has been forced to close because a combination of factors meant it was no longer profitable, the charity said, and it decided not to renew the lease.
It is understood the charity’s furniture store, also on Pow Street, will remain open, but the charity did not respond to questions about it.
The shop will close tomorrow, Saturday March 29.
A spokesman said: “Our lease on our Workington shop is ending. It’s crucial to our lifesaving work that all of our shops are profitable to allow us to help as many people as possible who are living with heart and circulatory disease.
“A combination of factors meant that sadly this wasn’t the case with our Workington shop.
“We would like to thank our wonderful staff, volunteers, customers and donors for all their amazing support over the years.”
