Another steam train is due to be travelling across Cumbria this weekend.

The Northern Belle service will arrive in Carlisle from Liverpool at 12.40pm on Saturday across the Settle Carlisle route, before leaving the Border city to return to Liverpool using the Cumbria Coastal Line.

Last weekend, dozens of wildfires were sparked along the coastal railway line following the Tangmere steam train’s journey along it.

The wildfires took place along a two-mile stretch of the line between St Bees and Nethertown.

While Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said the incidents were under investigation, it is believed that the sparks from the train were responsible.

This Saturday, the Northern Belle service is due to leave Carlisle at 3.30pm.

It will travel down the Cumbria Coast Line at the following times:

  • Carlisle 15.30
  • Currock junction 15.36
  • Wigton 15.53
  • Maryport 16.13
  • Workington 16.21
  • Parton north junction 16.29
  • Parton 16.33
  • Whitehaven: 16.37
  • St Bees: 16.45
  • Sellafield: 1.705. Departs 17.37
  • Drigg: 17.42
  • Bootle: 17.55
  • Silecroft: 18.01
  • Millom: 18.05
  • Foxfield: 18.13
  • Askam: 18.23
