Two Carlisle brothers accused of an attack which left a man with a fractured jaw and bleed on the brain have appeared in crown court.

Jamie Adrian Robert Pitt, 32, and Tyler Michael George Pitt, 23, jointly face two charges.

One alleges that they unlawfully and maliciously caused a man grievous bodily harm, with intent to do so, at an address in the Carlisle area on Tuesday March 4.

A second, less serious and alternative charge alleges grievous bodily harm but without intent.

It is alleged that the complainant in the case was subjected to a significant assault, in which he said to have sustained a fractured jaw, a bleed on the brain and breaks to his fingers.

Both Pitt brothers appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning, remotely over separate video links.

During a short hearing, Jamie Pitt pleaded not guilty to both charges. Tyler Pitt did not enter any pleas at this stage, at the request of his lawyer.

Judge Nicholas Barker agreed that a trial should be listed in the case. This is due to start in the week of June 23 this year.

In the meantime Jamie Pitt and Tyler Pitt, both of Beverley Rise, Carlisle, remain remanded in custody.
