Isla Hetherington with Cautious, senior winner at St Helena

Tuesday saw a return to St Helena for hounds with a 39 turnout.

Up first were the Seniors with a larger field than last time of 12 hounds, Cautious was sent off as the favourite.

But it was Countess Ava for James and Ava McClellan who was leading the race ahead of Miterdale Dusk for Sophie Steele when they were spotted.

The hounds were then seen going along the back fell from the trail field and it was Cautious for Stephen Riley and Isla Hetherington who had established a 300-yard lead with Baroness Ava in second for James and Ava McClellan.

Once through the forest and down the fields Cautious was still heading the race by a lead but Baroness Ava was trying to close the gap, once back into sight and onto the finish it was Cautious who still had a good lead and finished well ahead of Baroness Ava.

Up next were the Pups, with 14 lining up at the slip. Nellie’s Joy was sent off as favourite.

When they were slipped and back into sight it was Foxparke Oink Oink who was leading the race for Team Foxparke and Donald Hodgson ahead of James and Ava McCllelan’s Ava Artois.

Reports came in as they crossed the track in the forest and it was Foxparke Pip Pip for Team Foxparke and Donald Hodgson who was leading the race ahead of Maggie for Les and Graham Reid, Erin Rowlandson, Barbara Jones and Steven Walker.

Once the hounds were seen from the trail field it was Foxparke Oink Oink and Foxparke Pip Pip who were leading the race well, they led out of sight and back into sight but put themselves out of the race by putting a circle.

Leading the race was Zoya for Stephen Irving and Caroline Graham with Graham and Les Reid and Ellie Napier’s Brown Sugar in second. Once back into sight Foxparke Oink Oink and Foxparke Pip Pip were back to the front and going well, as they showed onto the finish Zoya had took to the lead and was moving ahead of Foxparke Pip Pip and Foxparke Oink Oink.

The final race of the evening, All-In, saw 16 runners. As they were slipped and went out of sight it was kennel mates Duchess Ava and Glamorous Ava who were racing each other ahead of Team Foxparke’s Foxparke Danny Elliot.

Once onto the back fell it was Glamorous Ava heading the race, ahead of Miterdale Green Queen for Sophie Steele and Jake and Zach Green with Duchess Ava in third.

The hounds were then seen again and it was Miterdale Green Queen who had took the lead ahead of Glamorous Ava.

Once back into sight, Duchess Ava and Glamorous Ava finished well giving them a 1,2 with Team Foxparke’s Foxparke Elliot’s Lad in third.
