People are urged to park responsibly when visiting Lake District beauty spots.
Cumberland Council said patrols will be carried out in the Borrowdale Valley to ‘manage visitor behaviour’ as parking issues continue to be a problem.
It added that areas popular with tourists, like Borrowdale Valley, Wasdale Valley, Stonethwaite, Black Moss Pot pool in Langstrath Valley, had seen problem parking becoming a recurring issue.
Bad parking causes obstructions for emergency services, residents and farmers.
Visitors are urged to park safely, sensibly, and legally – leaving enough space for emergency vehicles and farm access on narrow roads.
Cumberland councillor Denise Rollo, executive member for sustainable, resilient and connected places, said: “We want everyone to enjoy our outstanding area, but people must take responsibility when parking. On narrow roads, poor parking can force pedestrians onto the carriageway, putting them at risk from traffic.
“It’s also essential that emergency vehicles and farmers can pass through at all times. A blocked road could delay emergency help or disrupt vital agricultural work.”
Cumberland Council said it was also progressing with its plans to expand its shuttle bus trials this year.
The Buttermere Shuttle will run every weekend and bank holiday throughout May, June, July and August and will have a small fee to get on board.
The Wasdale Explorer, developed with the Wasdale Action Group, will run more frequently this year and will be free to use, supported by Cumberland Council.
Launching tomorrow, Good Friday, it will operate every weekend and bank holiday until September 21.
Councillor Rollo added: “Why not take advantage of our shuttle bus services and make your weekend even more relaxing? You can avoid the stress of driving and parking – after all, health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
“We appreciate the public’s co-operation. By working together, we can make the area safer and more accessible for everyone. Before parking, please take a moment to think.”
