A former garage in Alston is set to go under the hammer next month with a guide price of £195,000.
H&H Land & Estates is also selling the town’s former Tyne Cafe with a guide price of £30,000.
H&H Land & Estates associate director, Jonathan Hird said the combination of the historic Alston location and the realistic sale prices made both properties particularly attractive to the right buyers.
He added: “Alston itself is one of the best kept secrets in the North Pennines. It’s an absolutely charming market town full of history, green spaces with the North Pennines right on your doorstop and also within close proximity to the Lake District.
“The properties we are offering are very different, and each of them will appeal to different markets, but both of them will attract very keen attention from renovators and developers.”
With a total area of just under an acre, the most sizeable site comprises a former commercial garage premises with a large yard, lock-up garages and a range of brick-built outbuildings.
Next to a local school and Alston’s hospital, the site is allocated for brownfield housing development for an estimated 11 homes.
The three-storey former Tyne Cafe is in the Alston Conservation Area, immediately adjoining the garage site outbuildings.
Previously used as a café, with residential accommodation on the first and second floors, the building presents the rarest opportunity for a complete and sympathetic restoration, said H&H Land & Estates.
The auction takes place at the former garage on May 20 at 1pm.
Viewings are strictly by appointment only.
