
A driver with two children in has car was stopped by police for failing to wear a seatbelt.
Police stopped the man in Cleator Moor after they spotted him on Sunday afternoon.
Cumbria police said the man failed a roadside drugs wipe for cannabis and was arrested.
He has been released under investigation to allow time for blood test results.
Also on Sunday afternoon, police stopped a car in Aspatria after a report the driver was suspected of drinking before getting behind the wheel.
The 49-year-old driver, of Aspatria, failed a roadside breath test, was arrested and charged. He is due to appear in court next month.
The arrests are part of Cumbria police’s Operation Spotlight targeting the Fatal Four – speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
