Anthony Casey, of Preston, has not been seen there since Sunday evening but it is believed he has travelled to Cumbria since then.
He is 51 years old, around 5ft, of a stocky build and has auburn and grey hair and a beard.
He has a stooped gait and was last seen wearing a black hoodiie with a writing and a picture on his back and black socks pulled up to his knees, with brown walking boots.
People are asked to call 999 if they see Anthony rather than approach him themselves.
